clamp on water flow meter
1. Working principle
Clamp-on water flow meter obtains the flow velocity of the fluid through the propagation time difference of ultrasonic waves, and then calculates the flow rate in the pipeline. When the ultrasonic beam propagates in the liquid, the flow of the liquid will cause a slight change in the propagation time, and the change in the propagation time is proportional to the flow velocity of the liquid. By measuring the transmission time of the sound waves in the downstream and upstream directions, the flow velocity is calculated according to the time difference.
2. Features and advantages
Non-invasive measurement: no need to cut the pipeline, no need to stop the machine, and no contamination of the pipeline medium, avoiding the pollution risk and pipeline downtime that may be caused by traditional built-in flow meters.
Wide applicability: suitable for a variety of fluid media, such as water, oil, chemicals and natural gas, and suitable for various pipeline sizes and materials, including metal, plastic and composite pipelines.
High precision: multi-path measurement technology is used to eliminate instability and abnormal data in the signal, improve measurement accuracy, and maintain accuracy even under low flow conditions.
Easy installation: just stick or clamp the sensor on the surface of the pipeline to complete the installation, without cutting the pipe and stopping the flow, non-destructive installation, and easy operation.
Intuitive data reading: easy to carry, convenient to operate, intuitive data reading, can memorize and save read data, support data recording, analysis and remote transmission, convenient for operation management and system optimization.
Environmental adaptability and stability: It has certain environmental adaptability and stability, and can work stably under different temperature, pressure and flow rate conditions.
III. Application scenarios
Water management: Water flow monitoring in urban water affairs, sewage treatment plants and other occasions.
Energy management: Thermal and cooling systems, monitoring cold and hot water flow.
Industrial applications: Petrochemical, paper and pulping, metallurgy, mining and other industries, used for chemical flow monitoring, especially the flow monitoring of corrosive and flammable substances.
HVAC system: Real-time monitoring of chilled water and hot water flow in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Food and beverage industry: For food and beverage liquids with strong fluidity, it can ensure measurement accuracy.
Leak detection: Used to detect leaks in pipelines.
Temporary measurement: Suitable for occasions where flow meters need to be installed for a short period of time or temporarily, such as flow monitoring needs during pipeline maintenance or project implementation.
IV. Limitations
Limited measurement accuracy: The accuracy level of domestic ultrasonic flowmeters is generally level 1 or lower, and is greatly affected by external conditions, such as high electric fields, magnetic fields, etc.
Temperature limit: Generally, it can only be used to measure fluids below 200°C.
Sensitive to pipeline conditions: If the pipeline is not properly maintained, such as accumulation or corrosion problems, it may lead to inaccurate measurement results.
Fluid conductivity requirements: The fluid needs to be able to properly conduct ultrasonic waves, otherwise penetration problems may occur, leading to erroneous results.
Installation requirements: When installing the external clamp flow meter, it is necessary to ensure the stability of the clamp, and the surface flatness of the pipeline is required to be high, which may affect the installation efficiency.
